Mozart is a very awesome deaf great dane. Mozart was born around 11/2009 and probably weighs 110#. He was taken from a family that had too many animals and not enough time to care for them.
Mozart is a very friendly and well socialized pup. He knows how to sit with hand signals and is working on down. Mozart is very food motivated and eager to please. However, his new home will either need to have experience working with deaf dogs, or the motivation to do some research ahead of time on how to communicate with a deaf dog.
Like many danes Mozart will bond tightly to his new owner. In his foster home he follows his foster mom everywhere and will stay close by when she's outside (well, at least if there's nothing more interesting going on). Mozart currnetly lives with dogs and cats and does great...although he will chase cats on occasion when the puppy mood strikes him. With other dogs he is still learning how to react to doggie body language as he doesn't have the advantage of hearing them as well as seeing them. While Mozart loves all dogs, not all dogs love him due to his lack of skills in reading body language, therefore a proper introduction is recommended.
Right now Mozart is very well socialized and does well with children as well as strangers. Unfortunately like most large breed dogs Mozart does not understand that he's not a lap dog and will try to sit on and play with children. Mozart is learning his manners early in how to greet strangers and his foster home is drilling into him that strangers means treats when you sit to greet them. His new home will need to continue to work with him to ensure that he grows up to be a well behaved pooch.
