My Story

Moon and her siblings were going to be given away in KY. A rescue freind took them to avoid going to a bad situation. They are safe and started on vaccines and preventions. They were born in March 2024 and are doing very well so far. Before Moon traveled, she was side swipped by a car and we did notice she favored her back right leg. We visited with a vet upon her arrival to WI, and she has a broken pelvis and right femoral neck fracture. This vet referred us to an orthopedic surgeon. After the specialist reviewed the xrays - he indicated FHO surgery could be done but may be very difficult because of the growth plates. This can cause issues as she grows and may require additional surgeries that may or may not work. The other option is amputation of that back leg. We are still discussing the best options for Moon. She is a very resiliant pup and the injury doesnt phase her at all! We are open to a foster to adopt that will take on Moon as a special needs to help her with her recovery - regardless of the surgery that is best for her. If you are interested, please message us! These are German Shepherds and can have some strong personality traits. Please do your homework on this breed before applying!
