Isn't Monty handsome? He is a young tricolor English Setter and he is gorgeous. (The shelter thought he was about four years old but seems much younger to me.) Monty LOVES people and is so happy when someone is around him!! He wants to be with someone all the time and is very sad when left alone. He walks nicely on a leash, comes when called, stays off the furniture when instructed to, has not had any "accidents" in the house and gets along good with other dogs. Monty is a funny boy too. He has a graceful gait outside but sometimes looks like a clumsy teenager in the house. That is partly due to his enthusiasm and excitement. He is mildly interested in birds but has not wanted to stay outside for very long. Monty is a great dog and will make a wonderful pet for someone. Are you Monty's lucky new person?
UPDATE: Now that Monty has been with me for a few weeks I can tell you honestly he is a great dog.
He learns really fast and has learned to wait for his food calmly, sit nicely, stay, and is even copying my English Setters "talking".
He loves to go for car rides and even more so for walks. He walks perfectly on a leash and it's a pleasure to walk him.
He's a large ES but only weighs 50 lbs so needs to be fattened up a little. This should not be a problem because he LOVES food.
Monty does hate the crate and hates being alone.
He likes other dogs and even enjoys my little 10 lb Poodle. He's just learning to play fetch and run with the other dogs.
He also has a funny side. When he gets very excited he jumps straight up in the air almost like a rabbit. I've never seen a dog do this before and it's hilarious.
Because Monty is very mellow he can fit into a home that is very active or one that is less so. Even though he needs exercise like any ES he seems to enjoy sitting with his person as much as being on the go. Do you need a good companion for your family?
