My Story

4-27-09 Are you looking for a really great puppy- take a lok at Molly and her sister Maureen- here is an update from their foster mom..."Molly and Maureen are both extremely great pups. Molly is a beautiful red brindle and is currently 39.5 pounds. Maureen is a softer tan brindle and weighs in at 31.5 pounds. Both are approximately 19" tall at the shoulders and it appears they will be medium-sized dogs. We are still working on housetraining, but they are good almost all of the time. They learned how to use the dog door the first hour they were here. They sleep thru the night very well in their crates, but are also great cuddlers if you let them sleep with you. I think both Molly and Maureen would be great pups for homes with small children. They do not jump, are not mouthy and are very gentle when you play with them. Both are very mellow pups, with Maureen being the mellowist. Both are extremely confident and friendly dogs, with Molly being the more assertive, if you can even call it that. We have not found that they are afraid of anything, but just bark sometimes at unsual sights or sounds. They both respond very quickly to reprimands and are submissive, but not excessively so. I do not think these would be the best pups for an extremely active home, as they like to just hang out a lot of the time. They are not hyper at all and are really happy to sit on your lap and cuddle. I don't think these will be dogs to be someone's jogging or hiking companion, more of a play in the backyard and walk around the neighborhood type of dog. Quite often, I have found both of them either on my lap or one on my lap and one beside me. That does not mean they are "needy" dogs at all, just very friendly. We have started teaching them to walk on a leash and have used the "buddy up" system with our other dogs. I have found that they respond more readily to that, at least in the beginning. Both of them get along extremely well with our large and small dogs, but have not been tested with cats. We have not seen any dominant behavior at all and a few times we've seen both of them roll over to either us or some of the other dogs, though that has not occured so frequently as to call them extremely submissive. Within the first hour they were here, we found that they both love the water, with Molly frequently going in to swim around in our frog pond with a couple of our other dogs. Maureen seems to like to stay more in the shallow (and muddy) edge, but Molly will go to the middle and swim around. We usually feed both Molly and Maureen in separate crates to make sure they get their share (Molly tries to steal Maureens). There is no food aggression with either pup; you can take their food away from them with no problem. If we let the pups out and our adult dogs are still eating, there are no problems with anyone. Molly and Maureen get along very well with each other and I could see them going to the same home. Then again, they are not dependent on each other and I think they would do very well going to separate homes. They have been playing with our three 5 and 6 month old pups, sometimes separately and sometimes together. Two are large or giant breed dogs and the 3rd is a small dog and Molly and Maureen play well with all of them. To sum up both Molly and Maureen, I would say they are extremely sweet, friendly, confident, mellow pups, even at 6 months old who would do well in all but extremely active homes. " 4-23-09 Maureen and her sister are here and are mellow and sweet. Please consider adding one or both of these cuties to your family.4-23-09 Molly and her sister have arrived and are so sweet and mellow. Stay tuned for more info as their foster family gets to know these adorable girls.

3-22-09 Meet Molly! She and her sister Maureen are just precious! Their age is estimated to be 4-5 months. Molly is a little more outgoing than her sister, however both are very loving. They don't deserve to be living in a shelter. They need a loving indoor home, and desperately need a foster home so they can get out of the shelter environment. Please consider taking in one or both of these unique-looking sweethearts! **all our dogs are in partner shelters in the south unless otherwise marked**
