Molly

Molly's story starts off as an e-mail from a friend in an Indiana lab rescue- who recieved an e-mail (still not quite sure how..) about a couple moving to IL and were not taking their 13 y/o golden retriever and 7 y/o lab. They were going to drop them off at Dewey.. Las Vegas' main HIGH kill shelter. So the woman's sister in law freaked out, went and picked up the golden (She is keeping him) and I am guessing this is where IN lab rescue came in. This frantic email about a lab potentially going to a shelter got forwarded to me and I emailed her. She wrote back and when I told her we wanted to help, she told me she would go pick her up and we could come see her. The next day we went over and met Miss Molly. Rebecca (The rescuer) had immediately went and got her, bathed her, brushed her, went and got her nails trimmed and walked her (She is a SAINT!). Since she had been outside her whole life, she wasn't housebroken and doesn't even really know her name! (Shows how much interaction she got! ) Oh, and she hadn't had shots in YEARS! You would think an animal that has been through SO much neglect and little to NO human interaction and very little animal socialization would have some major issues. NOT this time! She is as MILD MANNERED and sweet as they come. Honestly probably nicer and calmer than my girls. Rebecca had a little boy (4) and a little boxer pup there too and they were climbing on her, the dog was chewing on her and she just laid there and took it. She is an absolute DOLL. She let us inspect her ears, feet and teeth. Aside from being a little out of shape, she looks GREAT for 7! We went home.. emailed our foster home and made sure she has room at this time to take one in. This morning we get an email that she does, so we make a run to Petsmart for some food and head over to get her. I got a few pics of her over there- and then we headed out. Absolute WONDERFUL traveler. She just sat in the back of the Expedition minding her own business, not a peep! We took her to the vet, got her shots and off we went to the Foster Home! Immediately the little Shnauzer (sp?) who is 10 months and FULL of energy.. started barking at her, nipping, basically going NUTS, and sweet Molly just kept walking, sniffing EVERYTHING in sight. Poor girl had never seen anything but a backyard for 6 years, she must have been going crazy with all the new sights. We took her out back and she JUMPED in the pool.. she doesn't quite get the "doggie paddle" thing - so she was splashing like crazy, but she LOVED it. We showed her the steps and she got out. Then SLOWLY inched her way back in and swam for a few minutes. She was in love! Since then, Molly has gotten nothing but better and better updates about her gaining trust and doing wonderfully. She swims like a maniac.. and definately deserves a great home! If you are interested in Molly.. please e-mail LVLR at [email protected]. She really is a gem, don't pass her up! UPDATE!!!! Molly is continuing to get nothing but excellent updates from her foster family. She is doing wonderfully with the kids (As you can tell from the pictures) - and adjusting beautifully. We will be holding a Petsmart Adoption Day at the Petsmart on Rainbow and Lake Mead inside the front doors on Saturday June 4th at 10:00 A.M.
