My Story

Meet Milo! This sweet boy was adopted from us 6 years ago, when his family moved out of the country, he was returned to us. His previous owners said: "Milo is a fun, sweet, and very goofy boy! His main passion in life is playing with other dogs, followed by taking walks and napping. He tends to have two personalities: playful puppy that loves to be chased, or tired old man who loves to nap. Some of the things we love most about Milo is that he is very easy going (meal times, sleep times, etc.), is playful but very clumsy, he doesn't destroy anything, is typically calm around the house, and he loves to sleep in the strangest positions." This boy has had lots of adventures, he's gone hiking and is good in the car. His previous family also say he's not a lover of cats, so a feline free home would be great. Typical to his breed, he's an alert barker. He loves to meet other dogs and needs to be reminded not to pull and be calm in his approach. :) Fast forward to right before Milo was being surrendered, he was diagnosed with an ACL injury. He had a TPLO in April and is now heading out of the recovery period. During the imaging part of his ACL diagnosis, they noticed that Milo also has progressive bilateral hip dysphasia - likely missed because of the limping. This will require lifetime medications like carprofen and gabapentin as well as supplements. Milo is not a surgical candidate for the hips. He also has some mild allergies that get treated seasonally with a dose of Apoquel as needed - we changed his food and he's doing great! At 6 years of age and a bigger boy (75#), this is ALL a LOT for a potential adopter. So after ALL of his issues, Save-A-Mutt has decided that Milo should be a SafeHaven dog - or a forever foster. We pay for all his care, we just need a committed family that will love him and care for him for the rest of his life. Milo lost everything he knows. He will need time in his new life to adjust and be part of the family. Milo is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
