My Story

Highlights: -Would do best with a confident canine sibling -Would do best with a fenced yard -Prefers older children Meet Millie, a 27 pound girl! Though shy with new people, Millie blossoms into a social butterfly with people she trusts. She excitedly play bows and does the most adorable zoomies around her familiar human friends, grinning and hopping around joyfully. She can also be seen wagging her rear and tossing around a toy from time to time. Millie does well with other dogs and is comforted by their presence. Though she prefers they respect her personal space while she gets to know them, she becomes a total goofball and is very playful once she's comfortable with another dog. Millie would do best in a home with a canine sibling to help her adjust to her new life. Because she can be skittish at first, Millie would do best in a home with a fenced yard. We recommend a home with no young children as she prefers a quiet, calmer environment. Millie will thrive in a patient home with another confident dog. She has so much joy in her heart and lots of love to give to her forever family! If you would like a chance to be Millie's family and watch her blossom, please apply at NMDR.org. - - - - Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
