My Story

Hi my name is Milagros! My people think I may be a shepherd mix. I weigh 50 pounds and am estimated to be a year old. My people gave me the birthdate of March 26, 2023. I came into rescue after having a run in with a vehicle. I had a broken pelvis and three fractured legs. The rescue spent a lot of resources putting me back together. I had multiple surgeries and lots of rehab. This happened when I was about 6 months old. They didn’t give up on me. It has been a long road to recovery, but I have made it! I am in a foster home with multiple dogs and would love to have another dog in the house. It’s not essential, but I would really like the playmates and company. I love to "commune with nature" - sit outside and just enjoy the sights and smells. My foster family says I have been this way the entire time I have been with them. In the beginning, it would frustrate them because while on walks I would just flop down and look around happily. Because of this, they feel I would do best in a home with a fully fenced yard and/or a nice deck would be welcome also. I am a pretty active girl, but do not have to be active all the time. During my recuperation period and before I was allowed off leash, I was walked 4 - 6 times a day. Now I only get one walk per day because there are quite a few foster dogs in my home that also needs walks. I love to run and play in the backyard with the other dogs. Between periods of activity, I can be pretty chill in the house. Sometimes just lying down and other times pulling bones/toys out of the box to play with. Because of my previous injuries, my people say I would probably not be a good match for someone who wants a regular running companion or for someone who insists on a lot of mountain hiking. I can do short hikes but not miles and miles of hiking. I am house trained and crate trained and walk well on leash. I have never been around small children simply because there are none in my foster home. I have never been around cats, so my people are going to say no to a home with furry felines. I am healthy, spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. If you are looking for a new fur baby I may be the one.
