My Story

Meet Mila - Your Playful Sweetheart!! (case #06-22-207-05) Hello, I'm Mila, a delightful 5-year-old Presa Canario cross, ready to find my forever family! I came in as a stray with a companion, showing my friendly nature right from the start. They think I might have been a breeding mom in the past, but now I'm eager to be someone's beloved pet. Personality: I'm a lovable giant who adores people and craves affection. I've quickly won over all the handlers with my gentle and affectionate personality. Playtime is my favorite - I love bounding around outside, playing keep-away with my friends. I might not always have toys, but I make the most of every moment! After a good romp, I come right over for belly rubs and some quality time at your feet. Training and Intelligence: I'm not just fun and games - I'm also quite smart! I know commands like sit, paw, and lay down, and I take pride in showing off how quickly I can respond. Training with me is a breeze, especially when there are treats involved! Perfect Home: I dream of a home with a backyard where I can zoom around and soak up the sun from a cozy spot by the window. Despite my playful side, my energy level is moderate, so a few walks a day and lots of snuggles would make me one happy pup. I get along well with others and would thrive in a loving environment where I can be showered with attention. I may suffer from some anxiety about being left alone - who doesn't? - so a home where my family is around a lot would be ideal. A furry friend may also help set my mind at ease. Health Information: I'm Lyme positive but don't show any symptoms. Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that affects dogs and humans alike. It's important to be aware of symptoms such as fever, joint swelling, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Regular tick prevention and monitoring can help keep pets safe and healthy. UPDATE: Mila spent the weekend in a foster home and they have reported back that she has some separation anxiety so potential adopters will need to be willing to work with her on this. They also noted that she was not a big fan of younger children. She will need to find a home with no kids or kids 14 or older. If you're ready to bring a loving and playful companion into your home, please complete an adoption application. Let's meet and see if we're a perfect match! Thank you for considering me as your new best friend. I can't wait to bring joy and laughter into your life! https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet Mila has a future appointment to be spayed. Her adopters must be willing to return her for this surgery, which is included in the adoption fee. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
