My Story

PERMANENT FOSTER We are happy to announce that Mickey has found a forever-foster home. As she is on numerous medications, the Delta Humane Society will assist with expenses involved with her care but she has a place to call home. After almost 14 months in the shelter, she walked into her new home, had a look around, took a drink from the toilet bowl, curled up and went to sleep. Thank you Adam for taking in our sweet girl. If you would like to contribute a donation to Mickey's medical care, please contact the shelter.

Jan 20/07 - Sadly Mickey has now had her 1 year anniversary here. Please help us get her out of the shelter and into a foster home!! She is getting so depressed that some days she doesn't even want get out of bed. We try to make things as interesting as we can, but with lots of other dogs to love, she deserves more. She has been nothing but sweet and understanding. Please help her! We will supply you with all her meds, pay for any vet bills..... There just HAS to be someone out there! A dog deserves a better life than this...Mickey still has lots of playfullness left in her. She would be a wonderful silly girl to have around as a companion for her last years.

October 28/06 - Our sweet Mickey needs to find a pet free home. She cannot live with cats and is okay with some dogs but not others. We are waiting for results from some recent tests as she is getting a little grumpy and doesn't want to go too far on her walks. If you think you may be able to foster Mickey, please call the shelter as we would hate for her to spend another winter with us (not that we don't love her but she needs a fireplace and maybe a big screen TV).

August 25/06 - Mickey is back. Not quite the couch potato we all thought she was, it turns out that Mickey is a different dog away from the shelter. Apparently, she loves to play (thinks she's a puppy) and gets rambunctious with her playmates. As her doggie friends at her foster family were very small dogs, the decision was made to bring her back to the shelter, before someone got hurt. She is still the Mickey we all know and love and we'd be happy to introduce her to you if you're interested in this lovely old lady.

June 15/06 - Mickey has gone to stay with a local family until she finds her forever home. Please contact us for more information about Mickey or to set up a meeting with her and her foster family.

Mickey was surrendered to the Delta Humane Society as her dad was moving over-seas. She is a chubby, chunky 9 year old rottie with a splash of shepherd. She is low-key, easy-going and oh so charming. She has beautiful brown eyes that melt your heart. Mickey is a soulful sweetie who did not deserve to be stuck in a cold shelter this winter. She is good with dogs, house-trained, and ever hopeful that she won't be here a long time. Mickey has some hip dysplasia which she is currently on metacam for. This should improve as she loses weight. If interested in fostering or adopting Mickey we would love to hear from you!
