My Story

LOOKING FOR FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT MICAH / MALE / 4Y2M / 66 LBS / SIBERIAN HUSKY MIX / VIBRANT AND PLAYFUL / FROM TENNESSEE Looking to help a dog in need? Then check out this opportunity to FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT with Canine Haven Rescue! We are a foster-based rescue organization in the GTA. We can only help bring these dogs out of the shelter and to Canada if we have a foster (or foster to adopt) home for them. Fostering is free, all supplies are provided, and you get the opportunity to help a deserving dog! If you foster to adopt, you will have the option to adopt after approximately 2 weeks. Good with dogs, cats and kids Working on house and crate training Leash trained: Needs to be on a harness as he dislikes being walked on collar due to prior abuse Energy level: Medium - High Prey Drive: Unknown Health Concerns: No HW status: Negative Spay/neutered: Yes Current Living Situation: Sharing a pen with Betty, a 1.5 yr old Female Lab Mix and LOVING having a pen mate! Micah was found as a stray and taken to the pound, where he was never claimed. He is a beautiful, energetic dog, with unique eyes! He just wants the love and attention of humans to call his own. He enjoys playing with toys and getting loved on. Micah will need a family who will be dedicated to continued training as he needs structure and routine. He would be best suited for a family with a busy and active lifestyle to expend his energy. He would enjoy going on hikes and being an adventure buddy. Although Micah currently shares a space surrounded by other dogs, he has had limited opportunities to interact with them. He has recently been sharing a run with a female his size and he is thriving with his new companion. We believe he should do well with other dogs with proper introductions but would love to see him land in a home as the only dog so the main focus is on his continued training. He will likely require a home with a yard so he has extra space to run and play, aside from his daily walks. He will require mental stimulation on top of his daily exercise. Sadly, we believe this boy was abused in some way due to his fear of a collar and leash. We can’t even imagine what he has been through. The second a collar and leash go on, he panics, so we suggest a very loose collar with identification and a well-fitted harness that doesn’t go over his head; one that has a front and back attachment for a leash. He has already come leaps and bounds in the training and practice he has received at our rescue farm with his leash desentization training. Micah will need a dedicated family that will help him overcome his fears and reach his full potential. Micah has made positive strides in building his confidence, knowing he is in a safe place at our partner farm. This boy is an absolute stunner, and whoever invests their time into his training will reap the benefits of the most loyal and loving companion. Give this sweet pup a chance at a beautiful life and finding their forever family in Canada. They deserve so much more- can you be the one to help them in their time of need? They'll be forever grateful! Please fill out a foster application at www.caninehaven.org/foster-application/ and our foster team will be in touch soon!
