My Story

ADOPTED 2007!

Some folks might call Mia "quirky." But we prefer to think of her as "eccentric." The key to her happy home is understanding, accepting and finding humor in her oddities ... er, eccentricities. For example, she is very particular about where she walks. (Usually. Sometimes she'll just walk straight through water!) She really loves one-on-one attention, even though she may play hard-to-get and act aloof. But give her a little while and she'll relax and let you cuddle with her.

A few of her favorite things: Running around acting silly, rolling around in the grass, being told how ravishing she is, and when her friends rub her favorite spot right at the base of her tail. (Oooo, yeah, sooooooooooooooo good!) And oh yeah--she loves to play with her rope bone. She chews on it while wagging her tail like crazy! One of our favorite things? The way her left ear kinda waves "hello."

Mia enjoys taking fieldtrips away from the shelter--like our annual Blessing of the Animals day, when volunteers escort their best shelter buddies for a brief ceremony and an enjoyable afternoon at the lake. Mia had a blast last year. There is a very funny anecdote from that day . . . except that it ends with Mia--through no real fault of her own--smelling like goose poop. (Apparently she wasn't feeling particular about where she walked that day.) But that didn't stop Mia's volunteer-escort from letting her curl up on the front seat to nap on the drive home. It's so hard to resist a sleepy dog--stinky or not!

Like the sounds of this dainty little girl? Come meet her in person. (We promise she's back to her sweet-smelling self!) Maybe someday soon she'll be curled up next to you!

Mia (estimated birthdate Oct. 2001) is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and is one of many deserving animals waiting for a home at Save the Animals Foundation. Please see our homepage for visitation hours and adoption details.
  • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
  • You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
  • We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
  • We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 13.
  • We do request vet and personal references.
  • At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
Can’t adopt but want to help? You can make a difference! Our shelter is run entirely on volunteer-power and generous donations from animal-lovers like you. 100% of your contribution goes directly to caring for our 500+ furry residents. Thank you for your support.
