My Story

Adopted 11/21/09!!! Location: AL - Coming to New England soon Update 10/25/09 - Beautiful Max is feeling better and is becoming more playful and engaging every day. His foster tells us he is a different dog than the sad and undernourished Golden who came to live with her in August. His heartworm treatment is complete and he is putting on weight, gaining 7 Lbs in just the last two weeks. Tennis balls are still his favorite toy and he will carry them, chase them and chew them for hours on end. Max's trainer, Randy, calls Max a, "sweet ole' boy" and says Max was trusting and wonderful on the confidence course which includes a ramp, stairs, and some minor obstacles. Max is gentle and affectionate, disinterested in cats and enjoys the attention he gets from the children in the nearby park. Max will have one final check-up with his vet and then should be ready to come north for adoption. Update 10/2/09 - Max has been neutered and is doing well with his vetting. This handsome boy should be ready to come North in the next few weeks. His southern foster tells us that Max is just crazy for tennis balls. He loves to carry them in his mouth and will chase them and bring them back until he drops! Max is living nicely with several other dogs but his foster observes that he really prefers the company of people to the company of other dogs and feels he will be happiest in a home where he is the only dog and getting all the love and attention. Max is uninterested in cats and thoroughly enjoys the attention and petting he gets from the children in the nearby park. Check back soon for more updates on gorgeous Max. Bio - Max is a gorgeous PB Golden recently picked up in Dothan. He is estimated to be about 7 years old and is just as sweet as can be. He currently weighs approximately 68 pounds but will weigh more as he gains necessary weight with proper nutrition. Once he has been neutered and properly vetted this beautiful boy will be ready for adoption. Check back soon for more updates on Max. All potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process, including a home visit, before being approved. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Golden’s in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.

Our dogs are fostered in private homes. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY TO VISIT.
