My Story

This is Max. If you want to skip the back story, he is neutered, microchipped, housebroken, supposedly good with other dogs and cats but not little children. He is an eight year old Pit Bull Terrier who is also smart. The fully story, if you have the time, we first met him in June of 2016 when a basement dweller in a home moved out and didn't take his dog with him. Someone in the home called for us to pick him up. He was adopted by a Rushville family but eventually was relinquished back. He was adopted again in 2019 and recently his owner reached out that he needed to surrender him back because he wasn't good with their 6 month and two year old children and also hated being crated in their apartment. We scheduled an appointment for his return, but he was a no show. He called because his place of work had been keeping him busy so we scheduled another day and time. He wasn't able to make that time, so he asked for a later time that same day. He wasn't able to show up (due to work) and called wanting an after hours time. We stated to call the following day for us to take possession. I got a call the next day but it was from the Greenfield Hancock County Animal Shelter stating that Max was found out in the country and brought into their facility. They contacted the owner, and he went and claimed his dog and stated that he had ran off from the apartment complex in Shelbyville. His owner was able to surrender Max back to us and we appreciate our contract being followed. Max sits in his kennel, and is depressed. He's still a bit sad and just loves to be around people, so being in his kennel is almost torture for this friendly dog. We brought him into the office, where Kristin snapped his happy pictures, and we all chuckled with how much energy and playfulness the eight year old Pit mix has. He loves toys, would froggy and play with his toy, lay on his back and play with his toy, and also bring his toy to you to play. He knows the commands for sit and shake too. Max is neutered, microchipped through Home Again, housebroken, good with other dogs (a meet and greet is required) and supposedly good with cats (according to his owner). He has zero destructive manners and is a very attentive and loving dog. He has been through a lot in his life, we need a loving home that will give him stability. Questions about Max, call the Shelbyville Shelby County Animal Shelter at 317-392-5127 or email [email protected]. If you want to come and love on him, he would love that too. Thank you for sharing, stay warm and safe and God bless you, chris
