Malcolm

When Malcolm first arrived, he weighed just over 40-pounds. For reference, a healthy weight for him is a bit over 60-pounds. We've worked hard to make sure he received the proper nutrients safely and we are proud to say that Malcolm now weighs just under 60-pounds! Even when he first arrived and was severely malnourished, Malcolm had something special about him. We know he couldn't have felt great, but his attitude was never dulled no matter what. We kept him up in the office with us so he could have as little stress in his day as possible. He would visit each person and then head to his bed or a fluffy blanket for a sprawled-out nap. If there was an opportunity to nap near one of us or have a cuddle session, that is when he was most content. We thought he was just gaining strength back and would eventually become a hyper boy. But, nope! Not Malcolm! He is a chill, easy-going fellow who is one of the smartest dogs we've met! Since he has been up in the office, he has learned to sit, shake paws, speak, and whisper! He also knows how to play "find it" with treats. We are working on teaching him how to lay down. He will tell you when he needs to go outside to potty, too! Malcolm's a vocal boy at heart so when he started talking to us, we were so happy that he must have been feeling that much better! Malcolm has done wonderful around most other friendly dogs. We think as long as your children are respectful that he'd be an awesome family dog and furbrother to them. Since he is such a wonderful ambassador for the shelter, he attended our largest fundraiser of the year and was a total hit! He was a bit nervous at first as there were several hundred people, but he settled in then enjoyed all of the attention. This is a big chapter for Malcolm that we are all so eager to see him begin. He is about three years old and he is neutered.
