My Story

1/24/10-Madison has been adopted!!!!!!!!
This beautiful girl is Madison. Such a heartbreaking Christmas for this sweet girl, her gift from her family was to be left outside and alone to fend for herself. Luckily a kind citizen found her and knew what to do to get her help.

Madison is approx. 9-12 months old and currently weighs 82 lbs (and she will get much bigger, some Saints can weigh as much as 200 lbs). As you can tell from her photos, Madison is a very happy girl. She is unsure about the new changes going on around her, but she is very friendly and is a total joy! Madison is absolutely wonderful w/ her new foster dog siblings. We do not know about cats and tho she has not been around children, as a breed they tend to be very good with children.

Before you inquire about adopting Madison, be sure to do some soul searching to make sure that your house, patience level and wallet are prepared for such a large dog for many years to come! We want you to be sure that come rain or shine, you will be able to take care of Madison for the rest of her life! Madison is a big girl and will take up quite a bit of room and she will have a large appetite!! She is also still a puppy and will require continued guidance to ensure she remains a wonderful girl. Madison does need leash training, so she will need a strong, knowledgeable person to lead the way.

We can't wait to show Madison that despite the recent development in her journey of life, people are wonderful and we want to find her a perfect match forever.

If you are interested in Madison, please IMMEDIATLEY contact Jen at [email protected] or 319-480-0945.

The first step to AWF's adoption process is to fill out an Adoption Application.
To download our adoption application, please click here. Completed applications can be sent as an attachment to [email protected].

The adoption fee is on a sliding scale; $100 to $175. You decide the amount that is right for you to give. We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes towards saving AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers Madison's medical costs, then the remainder of your donation will go towards helping save another homeless pet!

All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and tested for heartworm to ensure they are negative .

No adoptions outside of an approx. 50-mile radius of Jones County/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/Waterloo. In some instances, we are able to make an adoption outside of the radius work (but this varies on a case by case basis and may depend on where you live). The limited radius is due to a mandatory home visit needing to be done at the adoptive home by a rescue volunteer.

Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can not guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
