My Story

UPDATE: Maddie went to live with the Van Ee family. She is going to have a great life. It was truly a Cinderella story! Thank you to the Van Ee's for opening your home and hearts to this sweet girl.

Maddie is a very sweet girl. Maddie spent an unknown amount of time fending for herself on the streets of Detroit before one of our volunteers picked her up. She came to us pregnant but, sadly, she recently gave birth to a litter of stillborn puppies. This poor girl has been through so much. All she wants is a loving family of her own. Could it be with you?
Age / Size Maddie is approximately 2 years old and about 40 lbs. She is much smaller than her pictures make her look.
Personality: Maddie is in a loving foster home with two other dogs and two cats. She hasn't had any potty accidents and is quiet and content to sleep in her crate or stay in there while her foster parents are at work. However, she is not destructive so a crate may not be necessary. She loves toys and romping in the yard with the other dogs. Maddie is very affectionate. She is unsure of people when first meeting them, but only takes a few minutes to learn that you are ok and then she loves you! Maddie is great at alerting you when someone comes to your house or near your fence.
Forever Home Maddie will need a home that will teach her obedience commands. She is a very easy dog to have around, pretty laid back and affectionate. She is good with other dogs and with cats. I have not had her around any children.

To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to [email protected].

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
