My Story

Do you love being loved? Are you into big ears? Do short legs make your heart go pitter pat? Well then this may be the vertically challenged lover-dog for you!
LoJack is an AWESOME guy who comes to us from HORRIBLE circumstances. His owner originally cared enough to purchase him from a fancy-schmancy breeder and have him shipped to LA. She also bought a black lab to be his girl friend. But somewhere something went terribly wrong. LoJack and his dog family ended up dirty, hungry and afraid, fending for themselves on Sepulveda Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley. A couple of rescue volunteers literally scooped LoJack up when he was walking out into traffic at Sepulveda and Plummer! Being the mellow guy he is he had no problem with being rescued and let the volunteers handle him like he had known them forever! LoJack was then turned in to the East Valley shelter where he sat waiting for two weeks in a tiny, wet, smelly kennel with three other dogs for his owner to come and get him. But despite the fact that the shelter was able to contact his owner via the info on his microchip she never bothered to go and get him and his lab buddy. When the volunteers went to spring LoJack out of doggy jail he had lost some weight, had an upper respiratory infection and an infection in both ears. But despite feeling under the weather he was as friendly and loving as ever. He is now happily on his way to full recovery and seeking the caring forever home that he deserves. LoJack appears to be very dog-friendly so he could go to a home with other woofers or, if you are home a lot of the time ,he would probably love being your full-time best friend. LoJack does have that beautiful and loud signature basset howl and so he probably would not do well living in an apartment or in a situation where he was alone all the time (because he would, most likely, spend his day telling the neighbors how unhappy he is to be alone!) If you have questions about LoJack's special qualities please call or email jayna at [email protected] or 818-830-8555. for all other questions (like what the next step in adopting LoJack is) please call julia pennington 310-344-7366.
