MEET LITTLE JOHN!

NOTE: For more pictures of LITTLE JOHN, please SEND AN EMAIL for a link to his personal photo album.

Little Johns’s Story:     This boy has a sad story ... He had a family who loved him, but they moved,  leaving him behind ... chained to a fence with no shelter.  A kind neighbor was feeding him, and the landlord put out a massive call for help because our local shelters are full and -- as an "owner surrender" --  he'd have been euthanized straightaway with not even a waiting period. In the meantime, though, wave after wave of summer thunderstorms moved through with Little John huddled against the elements, hoping someone would help him.  One of our wonderful foster moms, already over-full, decided that she would just HAVE to make room for one more rather than leave this poor boy there.  So he is safe and sheltered now, and waiting for his forever home!

Little John's Foster Mom Says:    We named little John after the "Robin Hood" character.  It just seemed appropriate since is original name was "Tiny", and it soooo doesn't fit him!  Our guess is that his original family named his as a puppy, but "Tiny" didn't STAY so tiny, and therefore became disposable when they moved away.

He's just a baby at about a year of age.  He's about 70 pounds right now but has a very lanky build and -- since he's a male and will continue to build muscle mass and "fill out", we suspect he might be around 100 pounds when he's done growing.  He's a tall boy, too -- our guess is that he's Husky/Great Dane.  The pictures aren't very good, but it's pretty obvious in person.

Little John is just a pup and all he wants do to is play, play, PLAY!  He is getting along great with our little "socially delayed" boy, Mishka.  He is crate trained and after the first night there have been no accidents in the house.  We are working on leash manners; he's a very bright boy and he's eager to learn anything we want to teach him!  When he's playing he swings his hips around does a "body bump" in an attempt to topple his playmate.  It's really very cute -- and effective!

Little John has shown NO undesirable behaviors.  He's a very well-adjusted and social puppy.  If you are a big dog lover, he's the perfect boy!  I don't anticipate any special needs from the Dane side of his heritage except that he might need puppy food 'til he's 3 or 4, as Danes continue to grow up and fill out for the first four years of their lives.

Updates:     Coming Soon!

This dog's adoption donation is $200. If you know how much it costs to give a new dog responsible vet care, you can easily see that this is quite a bargain! He has had a complete health exam, has already been neutered, is microchipped, has tested negative for heartworm, has been kept on heartworm and flea preventative, is fully vaccinated and free of parasites.

What to do if you want to adopt this dog: To get started, just download the application by clicking on the link below or SEND AN EMAIL to request an adoption application! We will review your application to determine if there is a good match between your family and this dog. (Note: We may suggest another if we can offer a better fit in terms of lifestyle, experience, other pets, etc. A vet check, reference checks, and a home visit will be conducted before an adoption can be considered for approval.)
