My Story

COURTESY POST (to adopt Little Dipper, please contact Lizzie Martin at [email protected]) It is impossible not to fall in love with Little Dipper! She is as charming, loyal, cuddly, and goofy as they come. She rarely barks, is housetrained, and knows manycommands (come, sit, lie down, stay, wait, post, nose, high five, spin around). Shessmart and wants to be a good girl she creates a very strong bond with her person. She adores humans of all ages and is especially sweet and gentle with small children! Shes loves long walks and does well on leash, although sometimes she still needs helpremembering not to chase squirrels! When shes home shes very mellow usuallynapping. Shes relaxed about her schedule - happy to sleep in, wake up early, havemeals whenever they come, take walks when theyre offered. She is not foodaggressive and doesnt beg for anything except snuggles. Dip was rescued from a high kill shelter 3 years ago. She has lived with the sameguardian since then, which means there is lots of information about this pup and youwont run into any surprises! Her guardian has helped her make tremendous progresswith her separation anxiety, and now its time for Dip to find a furever home withsomeone who has a spacious schedule and can support her ongoing training andhealing. So far, Dip has developed the capacity to be calm and alone in the car or athome for 2-3 hours under the right conditions. She can absolutely continue to build heralone time skills with dedicated training, especially now that shes on effective medsfrom her vet! While Dip does prefer to be in the presence of another human, it does not have to beHER human. In other words, anyone will do (which is not the case for some dogs withseparation anxiety). Dip would do great living in a household where theres usuallysomeone home who would enjoy a furry companion, OR with someone who has time tohelp her continue to work on alone time. Dip adjusts quickly and well to new people, sofinding occasional sitters for her is doable. Dip has many canine friends! She is an alpha and wants to be the center of the humansattention, so she would do great as an only dog or with a submissive canine buddy. Dipdoes not chase cats and has lived/coexisted wonderfully with several felines. She is alittle afraid of cats due to being attacked by one once, so she does best with those whogive her space. The lucky person to adopt Little Dipper will have a deeply loyal and affectionate shadowfrom here on out! Since she has lived with the same guardian for 3 years, there is a lotthats known about her personality and needs. Feel free to ask for additional informationabout this special pup.
