My Story

Little Bear is one of our "special needs dogs. He is a charming gem of a boy who will love you with all of his heart. Little Bear was born with a condition similar to Spina Bifida in children. His spine did not form normally and he is missing the last few of his vertebrae including his tail. This condition also affects the muscles in his bowels and bladder. He pees and poops all at once but does not have much control over when he does it. In a home he could be put on a schedule to make them more regular and predictable. He has some deficits in his hind legs affecting their conformation and use. He can walk and run but not quite as gracefully as some dogs. Little Bear would love a home with a patient caring adopter. He would benefit from a big yard as well for exercise. Little Bear is 3 years old and weighs about 15 lbs. Little Bear's adoption fee is $175.00 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair ever dog and family for a successful and happy life.
