My Story

Lilly has found a foster home -- thank you!

Every now and then the shelter volunteers come across a dog that they just HAVE to save ... and Lilly is one of those dogs! With the clock ticking and no adopters in sight, Lilly's time was nearly up when they pulled her from the shelter and got her into a temporary foster home, hoping that a rescue would be able to take her. Here's what her foster mom wrote about Lilly: "She's about a year old, weighs 50 lbs., and has a funny little docked tail that makes her wiggle all over when she wags! She walks well on leash, know how to sit, and gets along great with other dogs. Lilly is very cute and such a sweet girl -- I'm SO glad we saved her!"

We'd love to make Lilly a member of the Almost Home family, but unfortunately all of our foster homes are currently filled. However, Lilly may be available on a "foster-to-adopt" basis, so if she sounds like the right girl for you, please e-mail us to find out more about this wonderful way to save a life! (Local adoptions preferred -- Philadelphia and tri-state area only.)

PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events: You can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. (Note: Please e-mail us to request an adoption application.) To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our website, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees.

FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives -- that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you -- there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!
