My Story

Lettie is a young adult red and white heeler/terrier mix. She is, by far, one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet. She has a twinkle in her eye, a spring in her step, and a smile on her face every minute of the day! Lettie knows several commands and LOVES to kiss (some people think we should rename her Lickie!) She bonds well with people and burns more calories in her greetings than some dogs do in a whole day. In all of her happiness and activity, Lettie would make an excellent jogging partner! Lettie can be bossy with other dogs she lives with so she needs a home as either an only dog or possibly as a companion to a dominant male. We are also looking for someone that has a lot of time to offer as this is a VERY social, active dog that would not do well if left alone in the yard all day. She is housetrained, up to date on shots, and currently weighs in at about 45 pounds. Lettie is a special girl to DHS. She is allergic to penicillin and had a severe reaction as a puppy that we were not sure she would survive. She is doing great now, though, and just needs to stay away from penicillin drugs in the future. If you are interested in Lettie and can offer her a wonderful forever home, please contact Jennifer at [email protected]
