My Story

Oh Layla, can you believe it's been almost a whole year since you've been with The Good Life Rescue ?! More about Layla: - This girl is equal parts Sass and Beauty. 100% the best girl. - We recently did a DNA test on her and she truly is a Super Mutt. - Loves most dogs, after a proper intro. Even goes to doggy daycare on occasion! - LOVES (boarder line obsessed) with cats...in a good way! She is very gentle with them. - She LOVES kiddos, but she does need to work not jumping up, and may knock over smaller children. For this reason, we recommend older children that are also respectful of Layla's space. - Plays catch like a boss and loves stuffies. - Laying in the flower bed at her foster home is her favorite past time and she will hangout with you on the porch for a cup of coffee. (Watch her, she'll try to take a sip!) - Layla definitely embraces that 33% of her herding DNA and is pretty skillful at helping round up the feathered farm friends at her foster home...and maybe her dog friends too! - She's a fashionista, if I've ever met one! Especially in the cooler weather. - Layla is kennel trained and appreciates her own space. - Layla loves all the toys, but playing with balls is by far her favorite. Layla does have endocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), which basically means her pancreas is not properly producing the enzymes needed to help her break down food and absorb nutrients. Therefore, she does require a special diet and supplements for the remainder of her life. Layla's foster mom has gotten a pretty good handle on her condition, and it certainly does not define her! Layla's come such a long way in a years time. She will just need that extra special family that will be understanding and help her grow as the distinguished Senior Lady. PS...there will be a lifetime of coaching and support for this girl. Her foster has about written a book of tips and tricks for her EPI and will of course provide behavior support!
