R.I.P. June 2007.
A handsome and soulful fella, Larry has absolutely gorgeous Dalmatian markings. He is up in years, but still has plenty of spunk left in him. Once you earn Larry’s trust, he will drop his haughty exterior and let you into his big, spunky, speckled heart.
Larry was named after the insurance agent next door who called to say that a Dalmatian was tied to our door. Back then, Larry was very touchy where his feet were concerned. But now, after patient training with our volunteers, he has learned to give his paw and is quite comfortable “holding hands” with his favorite volunteer friends. He responds very well to clicker training and is eager to learn new tricks for treats. His current repertoire includes sit, down, spin and (his specialty) catching treats midair.
He adores car rides and long walks, especially when he’s allowed to stop and sniff absolutely everything! Plus, he’s happy to sit on the couch or at your feet, and delights in long, smooth strokes along his back.
Larry is lonely; he adores his special volunteer friends at the shelter, and his excitement when he sees them is abundant! He loves the company of people. He’s smart and cunning ... and knows that the more times he asks to go out, the more times he’ll find treats when he returns to his kennel!
Larry has the true Dalmatian temperament, so is not the dog for everyone. He responds very well to firm handling and would suit a single person or couple—someone dedicated to continuing his training, and patient enough to discover how truly devoted this dog can be. We feel that Larry would not be a good fit for a family with small children or other pets. But in the right home, Larry will make some Dalmation-lover a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime companion.
Larry (estimated birthdate July 1997) is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, and is one of many deserving animals waiting for a home at Save the Animals Foundation. Please see our
homepage for visitation hours and adoption details.
- All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
- You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
- We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
- We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 13.
- We do request vet and personal references.
- At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
