I'm Kuma, a big lovable bear. I was raised from a little puppy by a young man who can't keep me due to housing issues. Since coming to my foster home, I've settled right in and accepted my new place. I do well outside, laying about, but like most dogs, I prefer the company of my humans. I'm not well socialized with dogs (but very well with people), so maybe I don't quite have the best of manners when meeting new canines. I have issues with other male dogs, but I'm OK with the 2 females I'm fostered with, especially going on walks together. Due to my size and strength, I should be supervised when being introduced to new canine friends. I tend to go up to them quite rapidly & tower over them, and some take offense. I love to play with my little beagle-size companion, but I need to be reminded of manners when I get over-exuberant. I'm heart worm negative and on preventative. I listen quite well; I know 'Sit', 'Stay', 'Come', 'Down', 'Fetch' and 'Paw', and I'm working on 'Leave It'. When it comes to humans, I haven't met one I don't like -- I love playing catch, fetch, frisbee & other toy games. (I do not share toys well with other dogs, though). I love to go for walks & I am pretty well trained to leash. I've been trained to *not* jump up on people, which is a real plus with a big dog like I am! I like to go for rides in the car; I jump in and out of an SUV easily. Another plus is that I'm not a digger, so muddy paws are not an issue when I'm around!
