My Story

Must Read:

Since we are volunteer run, pet specific questions through email cannot be answered -- please call during open hours. Before inquiring or applying, you must carefully read all our application / adoption rules by clicking HERE.

Since our dogs are exercised in huge grass kennels with a compatible buddy, they do get dirty this time of year so we highly recommend you request the dog be groomed prior to going home.

$50 adoption fee includes vaccinations, worming, vet exam, microchip, 1 free month of pet insurance & many pets are already spayed/neutered!

Kramer is a drop dead GORGEOUS PB Shepherd! He has the beauty, but is going to need an experience home. Has has 2 major flaws: He is has a bite history from restraint & he has an healed leg that had been broken & went untreated, leaving him to look 'funny' when he walks. Kramer is a very happy boy who loves to take walks. He is a favorite of the kids since he does walk well on a leash & makes them so confident sinch he's so big! He is a shepherd though & like most we have found, are not hte snuggly dogs...they were bred to protect and Kramer is the same. We're not sure if he will do much protecting as he seems to like everyone, but he is not overly friendly and not the type who is going to maul someone with kisses. As far as his leg, 2 vets have stated it's an old, old injury and would be far worse to rebreak and reset the leg. He gets along fine, is in no pain and will just live out his life with a goofy leg that slings out when he walks. And keep in mind, he's not the type who really pokey though either, he can run and play just like any other dog.

Because he has a bite history, you will sign the contract stating you are aware of this. It was what we think a 1 time incident, or he would not be available for adoption, period. We do not recommend him to a home any children as he is big, he is strong, and not the type of dog we would trust little kids to lay all over, pull the tail, or play with his food while he eats. The reason he bit, which was more of a scratch to the hand is due to restraint. There were 3 people crowding over him, he felt threatened and we went to muzzle him, as we do with all dogs before microchipping. He snapped and as a result will not be microchipped prior to leaving.

Kramer is going to be a great dog for an experienced home who wants a gorgeous dog, and for someone who loves the loyal shepherd breed. His ideal home would be a single person home with large dog, or shepherd experience. He would probably enjoy dog school and needs to find someone who is ok with his back leg looking different. He is estimated to be housebroken, since he is very good at keeping his kennel clean. If you are at all interested in Kramer, please contact CCHS right away!

Please remember to call in questions. And again, you must carefully read our application / adoption procedure before inquiring & applying by clicking HERE.
