My Story

Thank you for visiting Kodiak! By choosing to adopt a dog through C.A.R.E.S., you are not only giving a wonderful dog a forever home, but you are allowing us to rescue another dog on death row. You are also choosing to support a true no-kill rescue organization. Thank you!.

Isn’t he just a handsome boy? Kodiak is a very nice boy! He was abandoned by his original owner at a rental property. The new renters didn’t want a dog, so a friend of theirs took him home for awhile, then realized that a trailer home/park is no place to have a dog. So, now we have Kodiak and we will find him someone that will appreciate him and give him a wonderful forever home. He is a mixed breed boy, our best guess is Golden/Border Collie. He is about 5 years old and weighs about 66#.

Kodiak is a wonderful, very well-behaved dog. He is house trained and doesn’t need to be crated when you leave. He will sleep loyally by your bed, and follow you around like a puppy dog.

Once he bonds with you, he can be trusted to run off-leash and come back when called. He enjoys running free and easy in a field. He walks pretty good on a leash with just a regular collar. He knows some basic commands and is continuing his learning while in our care. He’s so good, he really doesn’t need any work.

Kodiak is good with cats and other dogs. He hasn’t been around small children while in our care, but he is very gentle and would probably by very good with them. He just loves attention and will sit by you endlessly.

Who will give Kodiak the loving home he deserves?

This dog's adoption fee is $250 (plus tax). This includes being spayed/neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (May-Dec) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. If you'd like to have an application emailed to you, just email us. Thank you!
