My Story

Don't be fooled by King's grumpy old man face. He's actually a total sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. In fact, rumor has it he'd love to meet you. King came to us from another shelter, so his history is shrouded in mystery. Our staff have been doing a good job of getting to know him, though, and we like everything we've learned. Along with discovering that he loves people, we've found out that he loves playing, especially fetch. He's also good at amusing himself with toys, so fill up that doggie toy box and let him go to town. King likes going for walks, but we recommend you use a harness, because his leash manners are still a work in progress. In terms of his commands, he already knows how to sit. We've discovered that he's a big fan of treats, which means he'll think learning the rest of the basics will be, well, a treat. Bonus: Positive-reinforcement training is a great way to bond with a new dog, so it will be a treat for you, too. We think King would do well in a home where any children are at least six years old, and we'd like to introduce him here at the shelter to everyone in the household. That way we can make sure everybody gets along well and set you up for success once you're all home together. Do you already have a dog - or several - at home? We don't know how King feels about other dogs, so we'd like to introduce them here at the shelter, too. That way we'll know whether he'd like a doggie "sibling, and whether their energy levels and play styles are a good fit. Are you a feline-loving family? We also don't know how King feels about cats, so ask your counselor for tips on low-stress at-home intros that will promote inter-species harmony. Could King be the dog you've been waiting to find? He and all our available dogs would love for you to take a drive out to the shelter for a meet'n'greet. All paws crossed you'll be heading home with a brand new family member.
