My Story

Kimmo has moved back down to the lower mainland to live with a Mastiff mix and his family who love him! Kimmo is such a good boy and is getting three walks a day with his new family and loving it!

Kimmo has been living happily with a family of two boys, another big dog since his adoption two years ago. Unfortunately the family is wishing to re-home Kimmo due to personal issues.

Kimmo has done very well in this home and would love a home with a similar setting. The boys he lives with are 10 and up and the dog he lives with is a Mastiff Mix who he loves to play with.
Kimmo is still a bit hesitant when meeting strangers but with slow introductions and your guidance becomes friends once properly introduced. This goes for doggie friends too. He was not socialized in his first year of life, as you can read below, but has had a lot of help becoming social and will continue to be so with guidance.
Kimmo has recently had entropian surgery for both eyes but does not have perfect vision, he likes to use his nose instead of his eyes a lot but is not impaired! However, his sight may get worse as he ages. Much like ours does! Other than that he is a big lug and healthy!

Upon Arrival and original Kimo Updates:

KIMO is a beautiful big boy, see the VIDEO! Kimo has been living with trainers so whoever gets Kimo will be getting a well trained and responsive dog. Kimo's story is amazing, because Kimo's first year of life was one of isolation. He was not even allowed in the home and never walked. Now Kimo is completely social, trained and happy.

Kimo is ready for his new life! Read on for a wonderful update from his foster parents and trainer!

Whoever adopts this Dog will be very happy with him!
House training- perfect not one accident.
He loves to travel and meet new people.
Separation anxiety- minimal.
Destructive? - 0!

Kimo's rehab could not be progressing better. He has mixed with many Dogs without even one incident worth mentioning and has been often tested by the other Dogs.
He has little to no interest in Cats unless they run and even that, he means no harm. I have to say he is a happy little Dog who doesn’t have a hurtful bone in his body.
If you are a Vet who wants to poke and probe in delicate areas he will need a muzzle as he is not comfortable with that yet. Hopefully exposure and vet visits where Kimo gets treats and pets will lessen his stress there.
He is very well behaved in the house and sleeps through the night. He travels very well. He has also met many strangers and no longer displays the stiffness he did in the beginning.
His leash work could be better but that will come with more one on one time. In saying that, all he needs now is a home. Also, I’ve had more than one request from other rescues for me to offer refuge for Dogs in need. We would be doing this Dog and others a great service by either exploring any new applicants for adoption or moving him to a new foster home were he will complete his rehab one on one.

Both Grace and I have been grateful for the experience of rehabbing our 1st Shar-Pei and hope to do it again in the near future.

October Update:

Kimo is an extremely handsome, 1 1/2 year old boy! He has done so well with the wonderful trainer who took him in he is ready to be adopted!

Kimo is looking for an active family who can take him on hikes, be his jogging partner and/or continue to who him the world! Kimo would do best with a younger couple or family with older kids. Kimo has recently met other dogs and seems to enjoy having a K-9 companion around! He is a new dog with a new lease on life and ready to take on the world!
His foster ma and pa, who have also been his trainers, have let Kimo be the pup he never got to be. He is an active, young, eager, happy, loving, loyal and affectionate dog! No more lonely backyards for this boy! Kimo is looking forward to family life, indoors, with lots of adventure and social outtings. Kimo has made us all very proud and we have his foster family to thank for that. Their dedication has turned this under-socialized, backyard dog into a big ham ready to take on the world! He is one of the happiest dogs ever now!
If you are interested in finding out more or meeting Kimo please contact us. You will fall in love with this fun-lovin' and very handsome boy when you meet him!

Upon Arrival:

Sadly Kimo spent most of his first year of alone in a yard. Kimo was taken for occasional walks but did not receive much attention other than that. He was overweight, not neutered and a very strong boy when we first met him. His previous owner agreed to neuter and vaccinate him and he was then taken into the care of an experienced trainer who volunteered to help socialize and train him.

Kimo quickly bonded with the trainer who took him in and responds especially well to men. Kimo is now ready to move in to a home environment. He will continue to thrive in a home where he can receive more one on one care and socializing as well as continued training.

Kimo craves attention and bonds quickly to those who care for him. Kimo has not had the opportunity to meet very many people or other animals so will need slow introductions to new people, animals and situations as a result.
He gets very excited when around new people or animals and is a very strong boy so can be a bit hard to manage in certain situations. He needs a firm and confident owner who can continue to work with and socialize him.

Kimo is young and eager to learn. With continued training, socializing and guidance Kimo will become the loving companion he so wants to be.

If you are able to provide a temporary foster home for Kimo or if you are interested in adopting Kimo please contact us!
Training assistance will be provided for Kimo and his foster or adoptive home.
