My Story

August 8:
Great news! Kelly, as the shelter has named her, has found a new home with the help of several rescue organizations and the shelter working together! Thank you to Jody who works at the Animal Control for bringing Kelly and her desperate need to find a home to the attention of so many. We are so pleased to hear she has found a new home!

She has been in the Hamilton Ontario Animal Control shelter for over a month now with no one interested in adopting her. She is running out of time and needs to find a home right away before her time runs out.

Our resources are tapped and our foster homes full as are the local rescues in her area so we are trying to help by spreading the word about this girl.
If you or someone you know might be interested in her please forward them to the person looking out for her from her area. Jody will respond to anyone interested in finding out more about this girl and can be reached at [email protected] or [email protected].

Here is some information from an e-mail we recieved from Jody seeking our assistance:
I was told to contact you regarding a Sharpei we have in our shelter. She was a stray who arrived June 26/05. She is an adult, black female. She appears to be a cross ( lab or something?). She is nervous around men, and seems quite uneasy in the kennel environment. She is quite aloof towards people when out of the kennel (not sure if this is typical of this breed?) but will approach on her own time and sniff/lick your hands. She'll need someone experienced with the breed to ensure she is handled properly due to the fact she seems nervous and will need re-assusrance. She avoids eye contact with stangers people and seems indifferent towards other dogs, but I think if they pester her she might react negatively. She's definitely going to need some work and the right home.
