Kalvin

Meet our boy Kalvin. He is a 10-year-old collie who came to rescue with a very large hernia on his back end. And by large, we mean enormous. Kalvin's hernia was causing his bowels to become impacted on a daily basis, meaning his feces would have to be manually removed every single day. Yes, that is about as uncomfortable as you are imagining right now. But sweet Kalvin, with his gentle temperament, let it be done without complaint. In July we got Kalvin to a vet and into surgery. Almost $3000.00 later and Kalvin is as good as new! A few days after the surgery Kalvin had a bowel movement for the first time on his own in over a year! Kalvin and his foster mom celebreated with happy doggie dances all around the yard! Kalvin is now recovered from his surgery, his coat is slowly growing back in and he is ready to find that very special family who will love him as their very own for the rest of his life. Kalvin is very healthy for his age, he had a very thorough check-up prior to surgery. Kalvin is great with other dogs, great with cats, small children and strangers. He's good in the car, fine in the house and housebroken. He's not much of a barker unless you get him playing and excited and then, like all collies, he likes to let you know he's having fun! Kalvin loves attention and is very affectionate. He will let you know it's time for "pet me's" by bumping your hand or arm with his nose. He loves to snuggle up on the couch with you and is happiest when he can just be in the same room as the family, watching over his flock. He's good on a leash, housebroken and vaccinated. What more could anyone ask for in a collie?
