My Story

UPDATE: Our beautiful long coated, mixed GSD Katcha had to come back to us, per our contract. Her parents adopted her two years ago from us when she was a pup --- picture enclosed, but they are having family problems. They love her so much they surrendered her to us because they believe she deserves a family who can give her all the love and attention she deserves.

I was at the Georgetown DE SPCA picking up a few dogs when I saw an old man dragging this puppy on a piece of rope. She was terrified! I asked him if he was giving her up or found her. He said he was giving her to the SPCA because they didn't have time for her.

I picked her up and put her in my truck and to us in rescue that is what we call
'A very GOOD day in rescue!' since I was able to keep that baby from ever stepping foot in a shelter. The Parvo rate for puppies is deadly in shelters so this little one was a lucky girl that I was there at that moment. Wish I could be there for more but we need more foster homes for us to be able to take more dogs in. Hint -- Hint!

So, she is here, as you can see by her pictures she is a stunner! She is very tall, very large, beautiful eyes and just too pretty to believe. She is like a tall, sleek female wolf.

Kacha has already been trained on the Petstop electric system and even has her own collar.

We always thought her one ear would stay down but she has mastered those HUGE ears of her and they are both at attention at all times!

I didn't think she would really remembered me since we had not see each other since she was a pup --- but she certainly does seem happy to be with me. She has good manners but seems to be afraid of some men so we will need to be careful when she is meeting people.

UPDATE from Katcha's foster Mom:
Katcha is wonderful! She is so loving and sweet. She loves my children, follows them every where they go. She is totally housebroken and stands by the door to go out. We are amazed daily by her gentle spirit. She gets along great with my dogs and is very curious about my cats She loves long walks and chases the ball for hours.

What I love about Katcha is that she loves to run around and play but when we come inside she settles right down. Katcha will make some one a wonderful pet!

Kacha (which means Katie in German) came to us from the Georgetown SPCA. She was being turned in by her previous owner because they did not have time for her. Luckily for her a volunteer from Lost and Found was there and was able to put her in their truck before she set foot in the shelter. We're happy we were able to spare her the fear of ending up in a SPCA.

She looks like a GSD with a long curly coat. She is a very sweet girl, VERY LARGE darling 14 week old pup. She is very friendly and loves to play. She gets along very well with other dogs and is going to grow up to be a big girl. Yes, she hasn't mastered the ear thing, but she's working on it.

We had her spayed today and vetted and she will stay in foster care until we get to spend more time with her.

PLEASE NOTE:
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed/or firm commitment prior to us processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website. http://www.petstop.com/

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our 'BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children.' Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) 'potty break' daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to 'hold it' for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our 'shelter kids' to be expected to do so.
