My Story
#Happy, #Outgoing & the biggest #Lover that you'll ever meet, Ladies & Gentlemen meet #Jude. She's a 1 year old (Almost 2), #SpecialNeeds #PocketPittie mix who weighs in at 50 lbs. Simply put, this gorgeous baby girl craves human companionship and all she wants in life is to be by her humans side. At the end of the day, you could compare Jude to Dory from Finding Nemo- pure at heart and no matter what life throws her way, she just keeps going and is always happy.
Our gorgeous baby girl Jude was saved by our rescue family back in October of 2022 after being dumped in a Detroit alley to fend for herself. Coming into rescue, Jude was unable to stand or walk as she had swimmers syndrome and also what we thought was cerebral hypoplasia (also known as CH) . After consulting with our friends over at Dogwood Veterinary Referral Center (neurological specialist) we ended up doing an MRI & Spinal Tap only to find out that Jude had a massive cyst the size of a racquetball. The cyst was so large, it barely allowed Jude's cerebellum to develop (The cerebellum controls the body's motor function). Call us crazy, but we decided to move forward with Jude's Surgery and we're happy to say that it was a success!
Now fast forward to today, a year after rehabilitation from Jude's Surgery. Jude is now thriving and can walk up to over 100 steps on the sidewalk or on carpet without falling. She'll always be clumsy and a little bobble head, but boy is she thriving. Please understand that Jude only knows life this way. Although she needs a little extra help in life, Jude acts and is treated just like any other dog. Jude can now safely jump off the couch onto her trampoline bed (see video in links below). Although Jude has special needs, nothing honestly holds her back from living life. Even though she can't run around the backyard doing zoomies with her pack, SHE'S HONESTLY JUST HAPPY TO BE THERE HANGING OUT WITH EVERYONE.
Jude is pretty much the dog version of Ellen DeGeneres and is just as Beautiful inside as she is outside. She literally loves everyone that she meets and one of her favorite things is to meet new friends! She gets along great with dogs of all ages and sizes (she's obsessed with puppies), does okay with cats and is phenomenal with kids of all ages. Jude craves human companionship with her hoomans and loves to cuddle. Some of her hobbies are going on her daily walks in her stroller, playing & wrestling with her foster siblings, getting her nails done, cuddling up with with her foster dad, smelling flowers outside and watching butterflies, hanging outside on the front porch people watching with dad, being told she's a pretty girl, anything that deals with yummy food, going on new adventures, playing with toys, making new friends and watching Disney movies.
Unfortunately a part of Jude’s special needs is that she is incontinent and wears washable diapers that are changed around 6-10 times per day. But we promise that all of the extra work is beyond worth it, because this baby girl will make sure to put a smile on your face all day, everyday! Jude is 100% crate trained, knows all of her basic commands and is very food motivated.

Help Us, Help Them Dog Rescue; previously known as Lending A Helping Paw Dog Rescue, is an independent, 100% foster-based animal rescue located in Ferndale, Michigan. Our mission is to play an active role throughout our community by 'Lending A Helping Hand' to animals that were either abandoned, in shelters, unwanted, homeless, chained outdoors, or victims of prior abuse and/or neglect. Our rescue family has accomplished this by setting up each animal and their new families up for success by educating and consulting pet parents about what's in the best interest of their pets overall well-being, and creating an awareness in our community about the vital importance of fully vetting and spaying or neutering their pets.
