My Story

Jonah is approximately 1 1/2 years old in these pictures taken August 29, 2009. He looks a little rough as they were taken just a few days after he came in to LP. A lady brought this very sweet and loving little boy to LP after saving him from being shot by her neighbor. The neighbor had already shot Jonah's companion who died trying to bring Jonah a chicken to eat. The lady said that she had seen the two of them for a few weeks and would watch the bigger dog bring Jonah different animals to eat. If it wasn't for the bigger dog, she believes that Jonah would not have survived. She could not stand seeing Jonah meet the same fate as the other dog. The LP volunteers have fallen in love with Jonah. All he wants to do when he is with one of them is snuggle or flop on his back and get belly rubs. This makes him hard to take for a walk though. Jonah gets along with people of all ages. He also does well with other dogs except when it is meal time. Jonah becomes guarded and a little aggressive if another dog comes to close to his food. But look at what the poor boy has been through after all. Jonah seems indifferent towards cats as he just took a look at the cat in the cage and walked off. Jonah went to the vet on September 4 to get all of his shots, be neutered, and tested for Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia and has been on Heartworm preventative. He weighed 14 pounds.
