My Story

Joey's short life has been one roller coaster after another, we are so ready for this special boy to find the family he's been waiting his whole life for.

Joey was rescued off of deathrow the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. We were there to take out his shelter mate and couldn't leave this poor boy behind. Joey acted pretty sick when we first rescued him so we took him to the vet immediately to find that he had parvo and pnemonia....His prognosis was very poor. He spent almost two weeks in 24hour care - and he pulled through. His love for life held strong and Joey would not give up despite the odds. We were overjoyed when he finally was able to leave the hospital.

Joey's newest rollercoaster has been that his original foster family is moving and could not longer keep him, so he has been moved into another foster home. Again, he showed us how resiliant and strong his personality is. He has adjusted wonderfully and is still happy as can be waiting with eyes full of hope that his forever home is still going to find him any day now.

Please consider adding Joey to your family. He is dreaming of you!

Old biography: Joey is now back in foster care, all healthy, happy and ready for a forever home!! Please see his story below.

Update 9/11/07

Sady Joey has tested positive for parvo too. He is currently in ICU at Kansas State receiving 24hr care. As of this evening he is hanging in there and doing well. He is on 24 hour fluids and in his own isolation room where he's receiving excellent care.

My Story: This beautiful baby boy was rescued from a local shelter thanks to a caring foster home. Upon arriving to foster care we learned that Joey has pneumonia. He is on antibiotics and receiving excellent care with his foster family and should be back on his feet and in good health soon.

Joey is magnificent. He is such a loving and happy little boy. He is also a very well mannered and laid back puppy. He's already got housebreaking down pat and goes to the door whenever he needs to go out.

He is fostered with other dogs, cats and a young child and he does excellent with all of them. He's going to make a lucky home a fantastic companion.

His foster mom says: He is a total lap dog if he cant lay on your lap then he just lays across your feet. He is wonderful with our daughter. He is gentle and loves to sleep on her. I sent the one of them sleeping to just show you how wonderful he is. He has only went pee in the house once on the first day and not since then. He will scratch at the door when he wants out. It's like he just knows where he is supposed to go so that makes it easy. He loves playing with our other dogs. He also likes laying and propping himself up on them. He was chasing the cats around but now is not so interested. He is overall just a wonderful, sweet, laid back dog.
