My Story

Joey found a great home after being pet of ht eweek in our papers! They had several other well loved little poms & were so happy to add another rescued guy in need of a loving home to their lives!

Since we are volunteer run, pet specific questions through email cannot be answered -- please call during open hours. Before inquiring, you must read all our application / adoption rules by clicking HERE.

Since our dogs are exercised in huge grass kennels with a compatible buddy, they do get dirty this time of year so we highly recommend you request the dog be groomed prior to going home.

$50 adoption fee includes vaccinations, worming, vet exam, microchip, 2 free months pet insurance & many pets are already spayed/neutered!
Just look at the face of this little guy! Joey was a stray found a few months ago in horrible & was adopted by the lady who found him. She spent lots of money on this sweetie fixing him up & also gave him alot of love, which he really needed. Unfortunately she had to move suddenly which caused her to have to bring her little guy back. It broke both their hearts, but Joey is hoping someone will see this & want to provide him with a very special new family. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and all medical needs taken care of. He was very sickly looking upon arrival, but how any small 5# dog in the woods could survive is amazing! Joey has gotten his health & spirit back now and will be a doll to the right home. We do not want to see him go to a home with kids, he's much to old for that & fragile. He's shown no signs of being bad with kids, but for his sake these last few years, it's only fair to him. He's very much a lap dog we're told & loves to be high....which means if you leave a chair out at night, you'll find the little guy sitting like a King on your table in the morning!! It's not the ideal thing, but being an older guy, it's just cute to see & if it makes him happy, we need to find him a family who won't mind. He had lived with 2 cats & did great with both of them. He does love to snuggle in the bed at night with his family & hopes to continue to be able to do this, esp being able to rest his head on a pillow. His last owner had trimmed his butt end a little since at that time he was a little messy...she'd wipe him with baby wipes ea time he came in from going potty. He didnt enjoy it until he learned he's gotta stand still so he gets his treat :) He will come with his crate & favorite blanet that he can nest in to make him feel more at home. Being old, please realize unforseen medical problems can arise, so please be sure this is something fiancially you'd be able to do. We can tell most of his hearing is gone and he has glazing starting in the eyes but seems to see fine. We're told he's very good about going potty outside, but again being old & so small he'll need a patient new owner who realizes an accident or two may happen in the future. He does still enjoy going for walks VERY much & when his little legs start to get tired he'll lead you right back home....and when his owner got tired, she'd tell him again instantly he'd turn around for her. If you have room in your heart & home for a little guy to spoil for his last years, please let us know!

Please remember to call in questions. And again, you must read our application / adoption procedure before inquiring by clicking HERE.
