My Story

Jaxon knows the commands for come, sit, stay, wait, stop, sit pretty, leave it, go potty, go for a ride, go for a walk. His vaccines and shots (Bordetella, 3-yr DAPP, and 3-yr rabies) are up-to-date as of March 7, 2023. He was crate trained over a year ago and did not like it. He sleeps in bed with his owners or on his own bed in the bedroom, stays off all other furniture except for one chair, loves to play with squeeky toys and balls, enjoys chewing a non-rawhide bone, and has never shown interest in the pool. He does not have a doggie door. He is particuarly attached to the female of the household and took a while to warm up to the male. He is shy with strangers and needs a controlled and gentle introduction. It’s better when he goes to them rather than them approaching him. Treats go a long way with Jaxon in all situations. Jax allows his owner to do the following: bathe, brush, blow-dry, nail trim, body trim, pad trim, ear clean, and teeth clean including using a scaler. He loves to go for walks and car rides. He wore dog boots for a few weeks, but they irritated the area under his dewclaws, so he longer wears them. He is conscious of rabbits and lizards and other wildlife during the walks, but is only upset about them if they are on his property. Jax has some mild aggression when encountering other dogs. However, when he stays in his boarding situation at a small ranch, he loves interacting with the small dogs and hangs out with them through the day. He also loves to dote on the baby goat. He is much less comfortable with dogs his size or larger. His owners both work from home and Jaxon follows them everywhere around the house, inside and out. When the owners leave, he is gated in the kitchen and laundry room areas. Occasionally the owners come home to find he has left them a liquid and solid surprise as his way of expressing his displeasure at their leaving him. He would not do well in a home where the adults left him all day. Additionally, we believe he would be best in a home without children, so that he doesn’t have to share attention.
