My Story

Two puppies born in May 2009 were rescued from a dirty porch in southern Illinois. In their Wisconsin foster home in they are being exposed to many new things and love being romping in the grassy yard. They are also learning what it means to be a puppy, like learning how to chase and chew on toys.

The puppies will also spend time with another MAPS rescue dog who has been a mama many times. She will help them learn their puppy manners. Both already show good bite inhibition when playing with each other and foster family.

Jasper
~ Likes to run and run and run.
~ Greats new people politely.
~ Likes to wrestle with brother.
~ Likes to try to get his brother to chase him.
~ Follows brother or us.
~ A little protective of his food since his brother is known to try and take it from him.
~ Physical characteristics: Chocolate brown and white with light gold eyes. Symmetrical white pattern on face and chest with white "points" on his paws tips and the very tip of his tail. His paws are bigger, but don't look out of proportion with his body. It looks like he will end up smaller than his brother.
to ~ Recognizable words: "sit", "hungry?", "come here"

Scout
~ Likes to wait and stalk. Has less stamina.
~ HUGE paws get in the way so he's still a little clumsy.
~ Still a little unsure of strange noises and is aware of his surroundings more than his brother.
~ He has no problem switching rolls when wrestle with his brother and doesn't mind being pinned down by him.
~ Likes to roam around the yard on his own.
~ Physical characteristics: Fawn and white with medium gold eyes.
~ He has a white ring pattern around neck. His paws are white up to his ankle and his tail is marked with a white tip. Large paws with big pink pads and lots of extra skin means he has a lot of growing to do still.

The Adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dogs and their human companions. The process starts with a prescreen review of an Guardian Application ( please email us at [email protected] for an application). After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant's home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love !
