My Story

Jake is a 1.5 year old, 20lb loyal Boston terrier. He loves to snuggle, will follow you around just to hang out, and is doing well learning his stay, down, and jump. He’s also house trained and crate trained and is a true little Velcro dog! He loves a good run around but he is, at heart, a lazy beast who snores like a chainsaw. Jake requires a fenced backyard and quite home life. He does not enjoy walks, and he needs slow introductions to warm up when meeting new people outside of his family but he’s highly treat motivated so snacks always help. He needs to be the only dog in the home as he is scared of other dogs but has lived with many cats before and is comfortable sharing space with kitties. Jake is great on a leash and when the pavement is cooler for him and there aren’t so many scary other dogs out and about! He is ready to shower his person with love and loyalty, and you will never go to the restroom alone again on his watch! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for puppies covers initial deworming, puppy vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter at the rescue's approved vet at 6 months of age. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! **Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
