Jack- male approx. 2-3 years old.
Picked up stray but never claimed by an owner, Jack is now ready for adoption. He came in with what appears to be a blinded eye; the vet looked at his eye but felt there was no need to do anything with it as it doesn't appear to be bothering him. It's likely his sight is limited in that eye.
When Jack came in with the bylaw officer they noted he is bothered by having people touch or fuss around his neck area and he was not a fan of being on the leash. He has likely had someone pull him or punish him by yanking hard on his neck causing him to have these issues.
We had a volunteer work with him to get him used to having a collar put off and on and leash walking and he's done pretty well with that, with time and patience and good tasty treats he can walk quite well on leash. The hardest part was getting him used to having a collar put on and taken off. There are a couple of other videos of him trying on a choke chain and walking on leash - see them at our YouTube site -search him by name. You just need to gain his trust and then he will be a big teddy bear who likes to give kisses.
He will likely do well on a large property where he doesn't have to be leashed or taken to the dog park regularly but may also be fine in a home that leash walks him regularly once he is comfortable in the new setting with his new people.
He has been ok with older kids - teenaged - who work with him at the shelter. He is also good with a female dog at the shelter; we have not had him with other male dogs at the shelter. We do not know if he is house trained as we've only had him at the shelter but he does use the dog door to do bathroom business outside.
He's now neutered and fully vetted
