My Story

Igloo is a very sweet miniature American Eskimo who just wants to be loved and understood. He is back in foster care because neighbor children taunted and teased him in his previous home. Because of this, we will only send Igloo to a home with no children or older children who will treat their new family member with the respect he deserves.

Igloo has lived with cats and other dogs. Despite his size, he loves to play hard with other dogs, so his new canine siblings will have to be tolerant of his high energy level and “in their face” play style. He does respect older dogs, and does not bother them.

His new home will have to be willing to go the extra mile to contain him and keep him safe. He has been known to dig under fences, and can jump a baby gate from a standstill. Igloo is crate trained and housebroken. Like any other one-year-old northern breed dog, he will get into things lying around, so supervision and continued training are essential. Igloo knows several commands, and is very eager to please. His favorite motivators are belly rubs, cheese, and little pieces of hot dog.

All of our dogs are housebroken, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and crate trained (or working on it!) They are living in homes with foster families, not in a shelter or kennel.
