Hunter Needs YOU: Be His Hero and Give Him a Second Chance! Hunter, a sweet chunky beagle arrived at the shelter as a stray with nothing but fleas, ticks and utter sadness. This almost 2-year-old, 29lbs sweetheart needs a foster or forever home to help him learn how to be a loved house pet. He's spunky, athletic (acrobatic moves you never thought possible), playful and lord help you if you have food in your hand. He needs help to know his food will keep coming, or we're just trying to be oblivious to the fact that Beagles always think they're starving :P All joking aside, Hunter will need a family to commit to slow feeding him because he will choke himself inhaling food. Hunter should not be fed around other dogs, at least not till he learns he’s not starving. Hunter is NOT a candidate for apartment living. While he’s quiet most of the time, when his foster is preparing his food in the morning or evening, people in the next zip code know it’s meal time. If you decide to foster we provide his food, toys, bed, crate, leash, collar, harness - we've got it covered! You just need to make sure he makes it to his scheduled vet appointment at our trusted vet in Burtonsville, MD, or have him available for a volunteer to pick up.
