My Story
Forget-Me-Nots are small, sometimes missed, flowers that symbolize true love, loyalty, and remembrance. At the Maryland SPCA, we classify a pet as a Forget-Me-Not to highlight an animal that may have some extra considerations for potential adopters to be aware of. Even though this pet may need a little extra TLC in order to fully bloom, we know they are still a strong candidate for adoption and they're sure to bring true love and loyalty into their new family. We hope you'll remember these beautiful creatures when you consider adopting.
Meet Hunnie, this charming older lady is on the lookout for a special family that understands the unique needs of a senior dog. She thrives in a calm environment, making her an ideal fit for a household with older children. Hunnie would do best as the only pet. Her new family should reside in a neighborhood with low canine traffic to keep her stress levels to a minimum, she is dog selective, and has a strong instinct to chase cats.
Hunnie is housebroken and has moved past the need for crate training, showcasing her trustworthiness and independence. With "sit" and "down" commands under her belt
Despite her age, Hunnie hasn't lost her zest for life. Once you earn a spot on Hunnie's list of favorite humans, she reveals her tender side, seeking nothing more than to cuddle and share her golden years enveloped in love and security.
Bio from her foster parent:
Hi, I'm Hunnie! I'm a bundle of joy with a lot of love to give. When I'm excited, like when my foster mom wakes up in the morning or finishes work for the day, I wag my tail so hard that my whole body wags with it. Then I go grab my favorite stuffed toy and race around the house with it in my mouth until my foster mom throws it for me or takes me for a walk to burn off some of my energy. My foster mom says I act more like a 6 year old than a 12 year old, bounding up and down the stairs with my toy and zooming around the house when I'm excited. I promise I'm the best of both worlds though in terms of my energy level. I'm playful sometimes, but I nap quietly all day while my foster mom works from home, I just like being in the same room as my people even if we're not playing. I'd love to nap on the couch with you while you watch TV, or calmly snuggle up to you in bed at night if you take me home with you. I'm a really good sleeper and I don't even snore!
As a mature adult, I'm fully house trained. I've never had an accident with my foster mom and I always tell her when I need to go out. I like hanging out in my crate with a food toy for a bit while I'm home alone and never complain about my crate.
I do tend to find some aspects of walks a bit too exciting and have trouble containing myself sometimes. Seeing squirrels is THE BEST THING EVER and I sometimes forget there's a human attached to my leash when I try to chase them. I also don't quite know how to maintain my composure when I see other dogs and I want to pull towards them, but if you've got yummy treats, then I'll do my best focus on you instead. One thing I do love about my walks is meeting tiny humans in the neighborhood. As long as they're gentle with me, I think they're just the best and I love wagging my tail for them and giving them kisses.
All I want is to have a human of my own to throw my toys for me and to snuggle with, and in return I'll always be so excited see you and I promise to give you the best kisses. Could that human be you?
