Update 09/29/05: Humphrey has received a sponsor for his heartworm treatment, now he is looking for a foster home to recuperate. He will need to be leash walked, without activities that will raise his heart-rate. He will be sore where the injection sights are. Just a little note. Humphrey was scheduled to euthanized yesterday. When the shelter director went to get him, he was curled up with a cat sleeping. This saved his life until the next day when a sponsor from New England came forward. Humphrey surely has an angel watching over him. If you think you are the appropriate person/family to care for Humphrey while he is receiving his treatment, please contact us immediately.
Update 09/29/05: Humphrey has tested light positive for heartworm. He will need a sponsor, foster or adoptive family that is willing to pay for his treatment. Please check with you veterinarian for this cost.
Attention all the X-Large dog lovers out there! JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE! Humphrey is an extra large hound mix. He is tri-colored: Black, tan and white. He is approximately 2 years old. Humphrey was surrendered to the shelter by his owner. Humphrey needs to find a home immediately since he is an owner surrender.
THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING FOR A KILL-SHELTER IN ARKANSAS FULL OF HURRICANE DOGS!!
Due to Hurricane related displacement, even owner surrender dogs are now on the euthanasia list to make room for more dogs from the Hurricane. Dogs are coming into this shelter from Louisiana on a daily basis. We are putting together a transport to New England for willing Fosters and Adopters alike, in order to save as many dogs as possible. If you can help by Fostering for several weeks or months until homes are found for these Southern dogs, please contact us immediately. These animals are in dire need of homes, if you cannot provide a home, sponsors & fosters are needed for heartworm treatment for some of them. Even just fostering a healthy dog will help save lives!!!! Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net and should be e-mailed to [email protected]. Transportation from Marion, Arkansas, is a paid transport. The adoption fee is $200.00 for altered dogs. (includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and transport from AR)
