Approximate age: Howie is 6 months old. He is small too - 13 lbs.
Personality: Howie is a little cuddler who hasn't been taught the luxuries of life or even how to be a dog. He needs a home that is willing to allow him to start from scratch on potty training, crate training and obedience training. We also learned that Howie gets car sick, so he'll have to get more exposure to being in a car for short periods of time...or he'll have to have limited car trips! :) Poor little guy.
Forever home: Howie needs a forever home who has the patience to work with a puppy. Because he was obviously punished for going potty at his last home and he was left outside for long periods of time alone, he is very nervous about where he is supposed to do his business. He really doesn't get it yet. His extremely patient foster mom is working with him to learn that going potty outside is good. She wants him to have a forever home that can be equally patient and adore Howie even if it takes him longer to learn about going potty outside. Update on potty training - Howie seems to be learning and he loves getting Fruit Loops as a reward for doing his business outside!
We will be accepting and processing applications for him and he'll be ready to go to his perfect forever home just after Thanksgiving.
Contact: If you are interested in Howie please download a pre-adoption application from our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org or email [email protected] to be emailed an application.
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Howie's adoption fee will be $275, which will help cover his vet expenses and keeps the fee inline with other small dog adoption fees.. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at Petco in Novi (on Novi Rd south of 12 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
