My Story

General Notes | Exudes Sunshine and Happiness! Get ready to be happy when Annie's around :) Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Exudes Sunshine and Happiness! I LOVE everyone - furry and otherwise. I hate when people leave, so I need to be crated. My fancy crate will come with any adopter that decides they love me. I'm just not used to having a forever home and when the doors close I want to follow - so it is best to crate me in my safe space so I don't get into anything. I would also love access to the outdoors when people are home, I like having the ability to come in and out as I please. Story | I came from Missouri and have spent my past years as a breeder mama. Don't let anyone tell you being a mom is easy on your body, sheesh! I was a great mom but I am ready to not work so hard and just take care of myself. I fit the description of a Laborador perfectly. I am extremely food motivated and have looked forward to my own bowl of food (um, I think I need to get a maze-bowl becuase I eat real quickly). I have been caught jumping up onto the counter to be sure the pumpkin is mixed perfectly into my kibble. I and am the most loyal dog you will ever meet and have been follwoing the human in the house everywhere. No need to call me over, I am always right-HERE. Speaking of being "right-here", I am walking the neighborhood path off-leash and sleep next to the person-bed on my dog-bed all through the night. I don't need to be crated as I am happy to just chill-out and take a snooze, even if no one is home. Speaking of napping, I admit - I snore when I am comfy. I recently found out I enjoy bones. I like to gnaw on the bones from the toy bin and even share it with my foster brothers. Sometimes they have it, sometimes it is my turn, but I like to share toys. I am not very vocal (does snoring count?) but if someone else barks, I will gladly chime in until I realize no one is coming for the contents of the refridgerator. Other Dogs | I would do best in a home with other dogs as I love them. I would be a great addition to someone's pack or promise to be reliably happy to meet other pups on my walks. Cats | unsure Children | Yes please! You'll see in one of my bio pics that I let my tiny human walk me. I love her. Training | I am working on sitting for treats (veggies are so yummy) Leash | Yes - I walk without pulling. Activity Level | I have been enjoying walking with my foster brothers daily. I get up and down a lot because I follow the human in the house from room to room. Health Notes | I came from a terrible breeding situation where I was overweight and not taken care of, so my old joints do require some basic otc senior stuff like cosequin. I also have some front smaller teeth bc of eating bad things out in nature like rocks, or maybe it was from being outside left somwhere I was trying to get out? This girl just finished her heartworm treatment so she will be retested to confirm negative test in 6 months, MHLRM will pay Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page! We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
