My Story

Hopper was a pup that we received a call about asking for a welfare check on about a week ago. He was left tethered to a three foot leash that he had ended up wrapping around the stake in the ground, on the first 90°+ day that we had. The way he was staked he had no access to shade and there was no water left out. By the time I arrived, he had maybe a foot of length where he could circle his stake. The caller had been concerned because even from the road she could see he was panting and when she stopped to give him some water, she noticed how fast he was panting and called me to check on him. Police officers and I determined that he was in distress and we worried he was suffering from early heat stroke. I took him to the vet where they agreed and they started fluids and the slow cooling process. So far he has recovered well and we want to find him his furever home. Hopper is a goofy pup, between 3-5 months old, as he is still slowly losing baby teeth. He loves to fetch and has loved learning to play with different toys. He has a lot of excessive energy when he has to be cooped up most of the day if I’m gone, so I need to find someone prepared for everything puppy. Potty training, basic obedience, teaching him to stop using hands as a teething toy, and how to properly walk on a leash, as currently we just get super excited and pull. We do know “sit” pretty well. Hopper is a sweet boy and I want to get him out of the kennel so he can flourish. We do okay with bath, but be prepared to take one with him. He is a happy bundle of energy. He is in my office with an older Rat Terrier, and he plays a bit too rough with her, but any time he sees any of the other dogs, he gets super excited. He will be getting neutered and microchipped July 2, along with his second distemper shot.
