Hope Sugar is aptly named because she sure hopes you think she's sweet!
We sure do! First thing you need to know about Hope is she is an easy companion. Imagine, cuddly, calm, and easy-going at home. Happy at home.
Easy-going at home. Hope is fortunate enough to be fostered in a loving family home. This has given us a wonderful insight into the type of dog she is while also giving her a head start on house training and manners. I know you are wondering, yes that includes being potty trained! Her foster family is so proud of how quickly she learned and shared that she is accident free! Take a look at her here but come back to read more.

Her foster family has shared that she is a lap-loving girl who steals kisses any chance she gets and is always ready for a cuddle. With a 2- and 5-year-old in the home they are often on the receiving end of her stolen kisses, when they are sitting on the ground playing, they are at the perfect height for a big puppy kiss. She has shown a wonderfully gentle and calm approach to the kids and is truly made for the family life. Plus, she is a great passenger princess, she occasionally needs a little boost getting into the higher vehicles, but she will give it a go when you said load-up.
Estimated at 1.5 years old, she is the perfect age for refining all the skills needed to suit your life. Thanks to a wonderful 105 lb. Bernadoodle she shares a home with, Hope Sugar's energy goes to playtime, so leash walks are not frequently needed. She has basic leash skills but will need a bit of polishing if walks are going to be a regular form of exercise. Even her basic skills are better than many dogs at her age and rest assured, she is a quick learner. Hope has tried to show off her inner Houdini with a bit of a back-yard disappearing act, possibly situational but supervision is always encouraged while you get to know your new dog and your new dog gets to know a home.
Hope gets along great with other dogs and adores games of chase and rough housing with her foster playmate. The two of them enjoy a short round of energetic play in the yard followed by long naps. Hope has been introduced to cats and shown respectful avoidance; her foster mom has observed that when neighborhood cats are seen during walks, she does like to bark at them. A cat-free home would ensure that there will be no chase-based chaos in your home.
Besides barking at the occasional cat, Hope's foster family reports she is quiet in the home, though living with another dog has given her a chance to learn what dogs like to bark at but is responsive to correction and doesn't carry on.
Even though Hope is confident in her foster home, she can show moments of shyness at times, new people or places, but it wears of quickly once she gets a feel of things. Then it's all head-high, tail-wags, and kisses for everyone!
Hope's dream home could be anywhere from a house with a yard to an apartment or condo setup where regular walks and playtime are part of the routine. She is such a versatile and well-balanced companion; adventures are great, and she is all in, but couch-potato life is also great!
To sum it up, Hope is a fun-loving cuddle bug, who shines when she runs through the yard with her favorite toy and looks like an angel when she settles in for a nap by your side. Hope is being fostered in Friendswood, TX and can travel to the PNW, the East Coast, and Canada. A note about adopting a dog from the Houston, TX area: Based on statistics, dogs from this area are one of the MOST desperate in the US. Euthanasia rates are incredibly high for both puppies and adult dogs. This precious baby is safe with us now, but there are so many more to save every single day. Our adopters truly save lives.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you've found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog's needs.
We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesn't stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
- A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx. $25 weekly for an 8-week course of one session per week)
- One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
- 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
- Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
- Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
We celebrated our 6-year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
