Hope

Hope is a brave and resilient pup who endured unimaginable suffering before being rescued from an abusive home. Over the course of more than a year, she bore the scars of severe torture, and video footage captured her being beaten repeatedly until she could no longer cry out in pain. When rescued in February, Hope's survival instincts were clear: she had learned to protect herself by curling up tightly and hiding in the shadows. Despite her past, Hope is now ready to find a loving forever home. She is a wonderful, intelligent dog who, through patience and care, has started to learn to trust again. Hope is extremely submissive and gentle; she wouldn't harm anyone or anything. The delay in her adoption listing was solely to give her the time she needed to feel safe around people once more. Hope is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. She gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. In fact, other dogs are instrumental in helping her feel secure. When she sees another dog receiving love and affection, she is encouraged to come forward for love too. Hope’s journey has been long and fraught with pain, but she has made remarkable progress with her foster mom, to whom she responds immediately. However, with others, it still takes her a bit of time to feel comfortable with touch. We are seeking a special home for Hope—one that understands her history and is willing to give her the time she needs to adjust. She may always be timid and cautious, but she will also bring immense love and gratitude to a patient and understanding family.
